Using A Facial Highlighter

I recently got a question about which of our products best works as a facial highlighter. For the record, Radiant Bliss is my recommendation. It is not super sparkly and adds a soft, radiant glow to the skin.

What Is A Facial Highlighter Used For?

A facial highlighter has two primary purposes. It brightens dull, sallow skin and it is used to help redefine the contours on the face. It is a wonderful little product to restore a healthy, youthful glow to the skin. It can camouflage fine lines and wrinkles and boost the overall glow of skin.

As a youth booster, it is especially useful to women over 40. Its ability to hide dark circles, minimized fine lines and act like a mini facelift have a lot of value. If you know where to apply it, you'll be able to enjoy the benefits of a facial highlighter.

It is not a sparkly, glittery product. It does, however, impart a dewey sheen on to the skin. Facial highlighters come in a variety of colors from nearly colorless to neutral beiges to a brighter pinky tan. I, personally, prefer a little pink to my facial highlighter because it adds a very subtle glow especially to the cheeks.

Where To Apply Facial Highlighter

There are a few places I always recommend to apply your facial highlighter.

Apply under your eyes to help combat tired looking eyes from lack of sleep or stress and to camouflage dark circles. Apply above the brows  and on the brow bone to conceal fine lines and to mimic a face lift that opens the eyes up and "tightens" forehead skin.

Apply to the apples of your cheeks over your blush. This will accentuate your cheekbones and help your face appear thinner and more defined.

You can also mimic a fuller pout by applying a little facial highlighter to just the cupids bow of your lips, on top of your lipstick.

Using A Mineral Facial Highlighter

While most facial highlighters are liquid, some are creams or sticks and still others (like ours) are powder. Using a powder facial highlighter is no different than using a liquid or cream. Simply dust it on top of your makeup around your eyes and on your cheeks and if need be blend with a sponge or your finger tips.

Some of our clients like to mix their minerals with facial moisturizer or body lotion and get an easy-peasy all over glow. How much you like to mix depends on the final finish you want but most find it only takes a little to have radiant skin.

A facial highlighter is an excellent component to any makeup bag, especially if you're tired, sick or just feeling a little blah in the middle of winter. Brighten your skin and your outlook with this simple solution!
